Garnier Pure Active

I got sent a few Garnier goodies in the post that claim to reduce spots. The items I received were a Spot Purifying Toner and a Deep Pore Unclogging Wash.

I have been using the toner and face wash religiously now for about 4 weeks. And the result...well to be honest, I haven't noticed a difference in my skin, but I don't really suffer with bad skin, I do get the occasional spot like everyone, but this skin care regime didn't change this.

On a positive note, the toner is good, I love how clean my skin feels afterwards and I love the strong smell. However, I think if you had really sensitive skin it might irritate the skin a bit. (I do suffer with sensitive skin, as you might have read about on my Clinique 3 step post, but this toner is great on it). The face wash has a great clean smell and I love the fact it has a pump, purely because I can't be bothered with faffing with products that are difficult to use!

Has anyone else tried this? Did you have similar results?

Coat Haul

I decided to go coat shopping a couple of weeks ago as it was starting to get colder and I didn't have a coat. I find it really hard to find nice coats that fit well, I don't know why, but I am pretty fussy. Anyway, I was in Liverpool city centre and went into the TK Maxx, not really for coats, just to have a quick browse, and they had a massive delivery of hundreds of coats. I saw a couple that I liked, tried them on, loved them, and it was as easy as that! This has never happened to me before, it normally takes me multiple unsuccessful shopping trips before I finally find one.

One is a blue textured material with big gorgeous gold buttons, and the other is a more classic black coat with pretty edging and a different fit, the lowest set of buttons is just under the bust so it gives the coat more of a princess style fit.

As you can see on the dark blue coat, I have added a brooch. I always do this as I think it makes the coat look more expensive and more individual, this is an old one from H&M!

What do you think of the coats? Do you struggle to find a good winter staple too?

Clarins goodies

I got sent a parcel full of the new Clarins range a few months ago so I thought it was time to do a long awaited review. I have never really had any Clarins products in the past but I was excited to open the package and see what their products were all about.
Firstly, 6 lipsticks in a range of colours.

These lipsticks are a great formulation with great pigmentation. I really like the one on the far right, it is a pretty nude colour on, it looks brown in this picture but on the lips it's pinkier. I also kept the bright red as everyone needs a red in their collection somewhere! The rest, unfortunately, were not my colours at all to be honest, so they were given away to my grandma and my auntie (my mum refuses to wear any makeup, and believe me I've tried!).

Another product which I am a big fan of is the bronzer blusher and face powder. This is really pretty and I love the corn picture in the powder, but these never last! The blush bronzer is probably too pale for me at the moment, but it will be a gorgeous colour for winter that will brighten up my cheeks a bit! I love the packaging of this, they didn't bother including a rubbish brush, which a lot of these types of products do, instead they gave two products in one!

I also got send 3 Wonder Perfect mascaras, black, brown and a navy blue. These are OK, but I think they are a bit clumpy on the lashes. They do give volume though and some days they look great, but not consistently.

They sent what felt like hundreds of eyeshadows in every colour. Here are my favourites swatched on my hand.

The names of these in order are (from left to right fromt the top) Silver Green, Pink Frost, Mystery Grey, Beige Shimmer, Midnight blue, Midnight Plum and Hot Chocolate. These are great eyeshadows with good pigmentation and are easy to work with. Have a look next time you see the range.

They sent my favourite ever concealer, it is amazing. They do it in 3 shades and number 03 matches my skin perfectly. It has great coverage but doesn't look at all cakey. I love it and would definately repurchase it.

Lastly, an eyebrow kit. After using this, I can't imagine not using it again! The colours are really natural and the wax sets the eyebrows well, another item I would repurchase.

What are your thoughts on Clarins? Are you suprised as I was with the new range?

Illamasqua Manchester

Hi bloggers,

I got an invite to the Illamasqua event in Manchester next Friday and was wondering who else is going and if anybody wants to meet up before/after the event. Leave a comment if you're going!

Makeover!

Hasn’t every girl dreamed of doing a makeover on someone who never wears any makeup? Well, my auntie who came to stay for the weekend grudgingly agreed. I decided to go for some natural looking foundation, some bronzer to enhance her high cheek bones, some serious work on the eyebrows and brown based eyeshadows. I personally was quite pleased with the result, my auntie seemed concerned and when she saw it she was shocked (how rude!) but loved it. Even my dad who says he “hates makeup” thought she looked “very nice!”

Half way there…

The finished result

What do you think? Should I have gone for a more extreme look since she never wears any makeup?

Friday Night Drinks

Me and Hele decided to go on a last minute night out on Friday so I went over to her house and first spent the day shopping. After getting back we spent ages getting ready with a few drinks of course! We did our makeup and finished the look with some new Bodyshop lipsticks. We both went for different brights and surprisingly I didn’t feel like a clown with it on.

After some disgusting Jagermeister shots and some wine we were ready to go. First we went to a local cocktail bar where we got invited to a party. Why not? Jumped in a taxi and drove to the bash. There were two huge marquees with a dance floor, buffet, loads of bottles of wine, beer and spirits and a bucking bronco…. Obviously it wasn’t long before Hele and me worked up the courage to try it out, although I was wearing a waist skirt and Hele was wearing a dress, not a great idea if you are going to fall off the bull.

Here are some photos on the bull before and after we borrowed some trousers from spectators!

Later, after a few more drinks, we started to get peckish but unfortunately there were no plates left for the buffet. This didn’t stop us; we got a bucket lid and used a serving spoon and a cake slice to eat curry…
This last picture is of Hele after she put her finger in a parrot cage...
I had a really great night with Hele, and as you can probably see, when me and Hele go out we always seem to have a really fun night! See Hele's blog for more photos.
What do you think of the new Bodyshop lipsticks?
